Our origin story is quite a romantic one. The original owners noticed a “For Sale” sign as they drove past a log building school. They were so taken by the cabin’s aesthetic that they bought it. The students dismantled the cabin, log by log, loaded it onto a flatbed, and reassembled it on its current location here on the Severn River.

The log construction is known as a Scandinavian style full scribe. This means each log is hand cut precisely using chainsaws, handsaws, and other tools to stack onto each other making for a watertight seal and fully insulated without any chinking sealant between logs. This technique is thousands of years old, and has remained basically the same throughout time.

    We are approximately 1hr 45min (155km) away from the main international airport.

    You can also reach us by boat on the Trent Severn River. Dock slips available.

  • Self check-in is any time after 4:00pm. You will receive our lockbox code once the reservation has been confirmed.

  • We can comfortably accommodate 6-8 humans. Non registered guests are not permitted.

  • It's no secret that we LOVE dogs! And, yes, dogs are permitted to join you on your cabin adventure if it has been indicated on the rental application. We do ask that the number of dogs is restricted to ONE unless prior written authorization is obtained. We know that they can sometimes cause damage, and if that does happen the repair / additional cleaning costs would be subtracted from your security deposit.

  • Pets must always be on leash when outside.

    Please pick up after your pet. Extra dog bags provided.

    Pets must have their nails trimmed before arrival.

    Please use our pet gate to barricade our split log staircase to prevent damage.

  • Yes. Whether you’re working from home or needing to stay in touch, you can find comfort in knowing our wifi is strong, free and unlimited so you can zoom, binge, or scroll without any interruptions.

  • No. Our property is a no smoking zone.

  • The water from the faucets is drawn from the river and safe to wash with, boil for cooking, and brush your teeth. We provide 18L jugs of spring water for drinking and the espresso machine.

  • Unfortunately, we are not accessible.

  • Yes, you can bring your own photographer to document your stay or ask us about our list of local recommendations.

  • No, we do not allow parties of any kind.

  • Yes. We rent our space for private events, elopements, workshops, films, and retreats.

  • Of course! We offer spa, private chef, and proposal services. Need a cake or catering? The Wood House Muskoka offers numerous enhancements to make your stay with us extra special.

  • No. Booking with us directly will save you hidden fees and costs found on popular rental sites.

  • We understand that sometimes life happens and reservations need to be altered. To receive a full refund, guests must cancel at least 30 days before check-in. Deposits are non- refundable if cancellations are made less than 30 days prior to check-in.
